A77 DSLT (Digital Single Lens Translucent)

Sony 350

Often whenever photographers get together, they inevitably get around to asking what kind of gear (equipment) do they have and what did they use to make that photograph. We easily get lost in buying the most advanced or most expensive equipment based upon what the other guy has. After all I like his pictures so I guess I have to have the same equipment he has to do a comparable job. How many nature photographers go out and buy 11×14 or 8×10 view camera like Ansel Adams used? We don’t, at least most of us. We’re of a new breed, the digital breed. Even film buffs are embracing the quickness of the digital world.

Konica Minolta 5d

We don’t need the best camera…we need a better eye, better lighting, better composition to make a better photograph. So to that end even though I was partially raised by a professional photographer who loved his Leica’s and Hasselblad’s, I can’t afford those.

I owned a Leica 3F early on but sold it to buy my first DSLR, a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D. I still have that camera and it is now my backups backup. My primary backup is a Sony A350. My primary camera is a Sony A77 DSLT. Why? because I owned several Minolta lenses and Sony’s new DSLR’s are based upon Minolta since they bought the company and its assets a few years ago. So to ease some of the questions you might have as to what kind of Canon or Nikon I own…I don’t. Those are both wonderful DSLRs but I’m learning that it’s who’s behind lens that counts. I have to make ME happy and if it pleases others…so be it. But if you’re still itching to know what I use, here’s a list. My equipment:
